Privacy Policy

Your information. Clear explanations.

Last updated 28 October 2026

Buzzy Technology Solutions Ltd. operates Distress Market. This notice explains how personal information is used across the marketplace app and this website. The information involved depends on the features you use.

01

Information you provide

Account information can include your name, email, phone number and location details such as state and city. Marketplace information can include your profile, listings and photos, favourites, offers, messages and attachments, orders, reports and support requests. Seller settlement details and transaction references are processed when you use payment features.

02

Identity verification

Seller verification may require legal names, date of birth, NIN and a camera selfie. These are used for identity and facial-matching checks and to protect the marketplace. Relevant information is passed to the verification provider used by the app, including Kora where that flow applies. NIN and selfie information are not shown on public listings. Complete the in-app notice and consent steps before submitting verification information.

03

Device information and permissions

The app and the infrastructure serving it process technical information needed to run and secure the service, including session identifiers, network information, diagnostics and security logs. Camera and photo access support features you choose, such as listing photos, attachments and a verification selfie. You can manage permissions through your device settings.

04

Why we use information

We use information to manage accounts, display and find listings, connect buyers and sellers, process eligible orders and payments, carry out verification, provide support, deliver service notifications and prevent misuse. The lawful basis depends on the activity: performing a contract, complying with a legal obligation, pursuing legitimate interests with appropriate safeguards, or obtaining consent where required.

05

Who can see it

Other users can see information you choose to publish in a listing or profile. Messages go to their intended recipients; authorised staff may access relevant information for support, moderation, disputes or security. Necessary information is shared with providers supporting hosting, storage, payments, verification and communications, and with authorities when lawfully required.

06

Payments and external services

Payment and verification providers handle information under their own applicable notices as well as their arrangements with us. Use the provider screens linked from the app and check the terms shown before proceeding. External websites, app stores and services you open have their own privacy practices.

07

International processing

A service provider may process information outside Nigeria. Where personal data is transferred internationally, the applicable requirements of the Nigeria Data Protection Act must be met, including appropriate safeguards or another permitted basis. Contact support for information about a particular service or transfer.

08

Storage and security

Access controls and other safeguards are used to protect information, but no online system can offer absolute security. Retention depends on the purpose and category of information, active transactions, dispute handling, fraud prevention and applicable legal duties. Contact support for information about the retention of your particular records.

09

Account and data deletion

You can request account deletion without reinstalling the app. Before closure, we save an encrypted, restricted PDF with only your account reference, account dates and activity totals. It excludes your name, original email, phone, passwords, NIN, bank details and messages. The retention period is shown before confirmation, after which the summary expires and is purged. Your account is permanently archived; contact details are replaced, sessions revoked and listings taken down. Personal marketplace content is erased. References retained for lawful financial records are pseudonymous and are not claimed to be fully anonymous. Financial and audit records may be retained for reconciliation, legal duties and legitimate dispute or security needs. Active protected orders or disputes must be resolved before account closure can finish. Third-party providers may have separate lawful retention obligations.

10

Your rights and choices

Subject to applicable law, you may request access, correction, deletion or portability; object to or seek restriction of certain processing; withdraw consent where relied upon; and seek human review of qualifying automated decisions. We may verify your identity to protect your account. Email support@distressmarket.ng to exercise your rights. You can also complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
