Community Guidelines

Better deals start with better people.

Last updated 28 October 2026

Keep Distress Market useful, honest and respectful. These guidelines apply to listings, profiles, messages, offers, reviews and other marketplace activity.

01

Sell what is yours

Only list items you own or have authority to sell. Use photos that accurately show the item, disclose faults and describe its condition honestly. Do not use a fake original price or invent urgency. Remove or update items that are no longer available.

02

Keep prohibited items out

Do not offer stolen or counterfeit goods, unlawful weapons, illicit drugs, controlled substances, identity documents, personal data, illegal services or material that exploits people. Do not list anything whose sale, possession or promotion is unlawful. Restricted categories may require additional checks or may be refused.

03

Respect other people

No harassment, threats, hate, discrimination, impersonation or sexual exploitation. Keep communication relevant to the deal. Do not spam people, publish their private information or use messages to pressure them into a payment.

04

Protect accounts and payments

Never ask for passwords, PINs or OTPs. Do not send fake receipts, impersonate support, share phishing links or manipulate payment or escrow status. Only confirm receipt after the item has arrived and you have checked it.

05

Use reviews honestly

Reviews should describe a real relevant experience. Do not buy, fabricate, trade or threaten reviews. Do not use reviews to expose private information or make unrelated abusive statements.

06

Report problems

Use the report control on the listing or contact support with the listing or order reference and relevant evidence. Stop a suspicious transaction before paying. For an immediate threat to your physical safety, contact the appropriate local emergency authority.

07

Moderation and review

We may investigate reports, remove listings, limit features or restrict accounts to protect the community or meet legal duties. Verification and approval are safeguards, not guarantees. If you think an action is wrong, email support@distressmarket.ng with the relevant reference and an explanation.
